Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How long is the
program?
A: Cosmetology consists of 1500 hours of learning and experience
extending over 50 weeks.
The instructor training is 600 hours and should be completed in 20
weeks
Q: When do classes start?
A: Twice a month, with the exception of December, unless enrollment
status is at full capacity.
Q: How do I enroll?
A: A personal interview is required so that we can explain our program
and determine your
potential for success. This may be scheduled by phoning our
admissions office.
Q: What are the admission requirements?
A: In addition to interest and a high potential for success, a high
school diploma or GED
equivalent is required, high school students are enrolled with a
transcript showing
completion of 10th grade, as long as they are 16 years old or older.
Junior Teacher
applicants must also hold a current Arkansas Cosmetology License.
Q: What are the physical demands of the profession?
A: A career in Cosmetology requires that you be physically able to
withstand long periods of
time standing on your feet.
Q: What is your summer program for high school students?
A: It is designed for the student interested in starting cosmetology
training early. This gives
you a head starting your profession-you can be licensed and earning a
professional income
soon after high school graduation.
Q: How are you graded?
A: Throughout your tenure at PCEC, Inc. you will take written and
practical tests. These tests
are designed to evaluate each unit covered by the student.
Tests and Grades: 90-100=A
80-89=B
70-79=C
Below 70=Failure
Q: What are safety requirement that relate to the cosmetology field?
A: In each phase of cosmetology, the safety requirements are covered
thoroughly. Portions
of the National Health and Safety manual are implemented into the
corresponding
curriculum, and you are taught how to read and understand Material
Safety Data Sheets.
Q: Do you have other forms of Financial Aid?
A: This institution is Nationally Accredited and eligible for Federal
Financial Aid if a student
qualifies. We accept many other forms of tuition assistance, check
with our Financial Aid
office to see what you may qualify for.
Q: Are there any additional service charges or interest charges?
A: We have no service or carrying charges. The annual interest rate is
0%.
Q: Whom do I need to see concerning Financial Aid?
A: Stacye Deaton is our financial aid director. She is available
Monday-Friday from 8:00 until
3:00.
Q: Are students allowed to take a personal leave of absence?
A: Students are allowed to take a personal or medical leave of absence.
You must fill out the
required forms and return them before you can begin your leave.
Q: Does the school have facilities for the handicapped?
A: This institution is not equipped for the handicapped.
